cavalier spaniel history, the noblepast of these adorable dogs

Believe it or not the experts say that all dogs originate from the Wolf and I don’t mean some Dog’s but all of them.

Now who am I to disagree, but how the goodness did we get from big bad Wolf to the Cavalier king charles Spaniel

Baffles me, must be a mother nature thing going on.

This lead to breeds of quite small Dogs that didn’t seem to do a lot but were very attractive to look at. This it seems to have made them very popular with the Ladies.

In fact the very famous philospher Aristotle called these little doggies “ the Ladies favourite”

Not much is known about Cavalier spaniel history or their development but these toy Spaniels as they became to be known started to appear on paintings and Tapestries around about 1500 A.D. Then they had a bit of luck in the fact that the English royal family took a shine to these lovely pets. Especially King Charles ll of whom the breed came to be named after.

A while later they were called Malborough or Blenhiem Spaniels due to the fact that the Duke of Malborough was nuts about them as well.

Then there was trouble they seemed to fall out of fashion and almost went extinct but thankfully they seemed to get over that and regained popularity.

Then in 1928 a group of fanciers and very enthusiastic breeders got together and officially named the Breed the Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.

There was also another variety looking slighty different called King charles Spaniels.

Today the Cavalier king charles Spaniel has one of the largest registration of any breed and continues to be loved by Breeders and owners across the Globe.

I’ve got to be honest they are very attractive and lovely to look at especially the puppies.

But I still can’t get that Wolf connection.
