Made in America the delightful American cocker Spaniel
These are my cousins from across the pond.
Desended from my ancestors the English cocking Spaniels,
when they were finally recognised and accepted as a Breed in 1945.
I wonder if they made that lovely woop! woop! sound that the American people make when they get
excited ?
They don't really do much of the hunting thing anymore as over the years they have become very domesticated and a little softer.
What seems to have happenend is they are such a good looking breed of dog that they have become much more popular in the show world.
Some of their coats are amazing.
Not much good for diving in the mud though.
I won't bore you with all the colors they come in but there sure is a lot of variety amongst these little beauties.
I have to be honest I haven't actually met an
American Cocker Spaniel
before, but they sound ever so nice little Doggies and I am told they make excellent companions for Humans.
"As do most Spaniels I hear you say"
But small word of warning though. Some people in the know have mentioned that due to some dodgy breeding practices over the years some of these little cockers can get a bit irritable
and nippy.
They especilly don't respond very well to anykind of harsh treatment although that would be the same
for many Dogs.
They are also prone to suffering from a few different ailments and illnesses along the way,
so if you are thinking of getting one, better stock up on the old pet insurance.
But apart from those tiny flies in the ointment, the American Cocker Spaniel makes a truly wonderful pet,
Loyal and loving as well as gorgeous to look at.
